Exhibition Information
The blue sea scenery and fish drawn in watercolors are the signature of Chae Hyun-kyo. The memory of childhood, which was splashing to catch fish, has led the writer for the past two decades or so to explore colors by pouring blue paint. The time that has passed with the free-swimming fish, the author describes with the connection of "I'm going somewhere." The 10-yard, which will be shown for the first time in this exhibition, features the scenery of the blue sea like a panorama, as the author said, "I ran through the present while fighting the past." As if to fill the gap of the past seven years, paintings that have been painted only with eyes and hearts are pouring like waterfalls on the screen. Another eye-catching feature is the monotone-finished works. Color selection is often linked to the author's psychological situation. Pink, Green, and monotone are the author's new choices, full of latent energy, as if again at a new starting point. Isn't this energy the driving force behind Chae Hyun-kyo's work? Like a slender but constantly-moving little fish, Chae Hyun-kyo's work conveys the power and energy of life, as it seems calm but always waves flow. That's why many people say that they get energy and healing from this work. Some view the images on the screen as flowers in the flower bed, not as fish. The shaking of petals and scattering of flower seeds are no different in that they are the source of life. [Source] ianartspace homepage
