Exhibition Information

			'2nd STUDIO' is a collaboration program with the Cian Museum of Art and the Yeongcheon Art Creation Studio, which is a project to display the creations of studio artists to provide high-quality and diverse contemporary art works to audiences and promote the development of local art. The project will feature works by the 12th resident artists of the Yeongcheon Art Creation Studio (Gong-ho, Kim Min-seong, Kim Sang-duk, Kim Sun-haeng, Kim So-ra, Kim Jae-hong, Seo Dong-jin, Lee Seung-hee and Lee Hyun-jung). 

Today we are faced with a shadowy world because of Corona19. The world we knew so far has collapsed, and we have been thrown into a world we have never experienced. Unexpected social problems have arisen and are experiencing a time of chaos. We need to recognize this world again. In 2020, the theme of '2nd STUDIO' is 'Shadow of Recognition'. "Sketch" means a space with shadows. In other words, 'shade' directs the world we live in today. Through this exhibition, I would like to think about how to accept and recognize the rapidly changing contemporaries.

Then what should I look at, and how should I perceive it? The exhibition consists of four sections, ‘Here’, ‘There’, ‘Behind’, ‘Beyond’, to follow the writer's world-recognition process. First, in the first section, 'Here', you can see the works of Kim Sang-duk and Kim So-ra, who observe or watch the reality they face and express through their narratives. In the second section, 'There', you will meet the works of Kim Kyung-ho, Kim Sun-heaung and Seo Dong-jin, who remind you of three-dimensional reasons for not having experienced anything by overlaying your imagination about an object or event. In the third section, 'Behind', we enter the space of Lee Seung-he, who brings up stories that we have recognized but turned away or had no choice but to ignore. In the final section 'Beyond', you encounter the work of writers Kim Min-seong, Kim Jae-hong and Lee Hyun-jung and face stories beyond reality, including the source of essence or existence.

Each of the writers' works has an interesting story. However, the artists' work in each section of the exhibition <2nd STUDIO - Shadows of Recognition> does not share a common theme or narrative. As mentioned, writers are building their own art world through their own unique themes that recognize the world. The exhibition proposes a process of perception, following the way the artists view the world with their individual works. Through these proposals, we would like to think together about how to view the contemporary era and how to rebuild it.

Will we be able to face a whole new world that is rapidly changing?
