Exhibition Information
An exhibition of 11 Major Korean hyperrealism artists will be held at Gallery WE (Sugi-gu, Yongin City). In the late 1960s, Western countries such as the United States, Europe, etc. tended to express the common and everyday material of places, objects, and people very realistically and as if they were photographs. It sought to ventilate a new perspective amid extreme portrayal and careful reproduction. The influence of Western realism and the reaction of abstract painting, which began in the 1970s, is still loved as a popular genre of Korean hyperrealism, intervening in the author's subject and reason beyond the transfer of simple images. This exhibition is an anthology of leading writers who have been on the journey of hyperrealism in Korea for more than 40 years, and a place of rediscovery that captures signs of the future. Eleven writers, including Kang Hyung-gu, Koo Ja-seung, Kim Sung-geun, Roh Jae-soon, Song Hyun-hwa, Lee Seok-ju, Lee Young-hee, and Jakajang (Jang Cheol-seok), Jung Hae-kwang, Joo Tae-seok, and Han Man-young, who have steadily settled and expanded their own territory without being trapped in the premise of hyperrealism, will participate. In the different works of 11 people who have built up their own exploratory reasons on the basis of noble craftsmanship and delicate artistic spirit, one can see the past and present of Korean hyperrealism, and even the future toward new realism.
