Exhibition Information

This is an era where we feel that someone's pain is connected to us more than ever. Now the reflection on a precarious life is read again. Human vulnerability and loss, which make everyone more equal, have become more and more of a matter to be recognized. "Blue Bells" focuses on structured sadness that is not easily revealed on the surface with its potential but is located at the base or inside of society. "Blue Bells" is an attempt to ask and respond to whether emotions can be heard and shared as a social message. From this perspective, the exhibition title cited Kim Kwangkyun's poem "The Blue Bell Scattered Like a Fountain," which expressed the "blue" image of sadness and loss as if it were seen and heard.

In fact, in modern society, there are countless opportunities to look at others while being distant from them. Through the screen in my hand, which I carry almost all the time, and through various disaster text alerts that echo constantly. You can see the world that you share with others one after another, but you have become numb. Cry with the one who cries. Is it possible to make a sound together in the first place? Understanding someone and making the same sound may only exist as an approximation of experience. What should we summon to meet each other, and what can we keep deep in our hearts beyond the failure of imagination and empathy? "Blue Bells" continues to works borrowed from music, asking what code can provide a perspective that triggers an understanding of the global situation.

The exhibition "Blue Bell Sound" is like a song composed of two movements, "Low Sound" and "Singing". "Lower sound" is a fine but constantly delivered sound that foretells that something is happening. Sound transformed into gestures or visual forms is routine throughout society, so we ask you to reimagine ordinary oppression and sound hidden from certain forces. In "Call Your Name," it echoes into a space of resonance. It is always open because there is no eyelid in the ear, but it becomes dull if you don't pay attention. The reason why it is not easy to listen in itself is that you have to respond with an understanding of the repeated chorus-like situations and the precarious appeal of life that lingers in the midst of events. The sound we hear is not complete, but it's not just yours. Wouldn't it be a will and a practice to listen to the scattered message of echo?
