Exhibition Information
Brainwaves contain not only electrical signals generated by brain activities such as concentration or relaxation but also internal states, including numerous effects on the body and surrounding, such as muscle movement and frequency components of electric lights. The interactive work "Innerscapes" shows fractal shapes created by this inner state in the form of terrain. The audience's view of the terrain that resonates around them and within them is similar to the process of recognizing oneself while looking in a mirror as a child. The multi-faceted, unconscious terrain that arises from itself sometimes brings conscious attention and reminds us of a scene in memory. Artificial intelligence intervenes in this associative process, generating learned landscapes from multiple photographs and projecting them onto the terrain. As artificial intelligence intuitively looks at the landscape that is relatively strange, the audience may again make some internal changes. Then it changes brain waves again, moves the terrain, and artificial intelligence continues to circulate to draw another landscape on it. This work allows us to face the inner world through the motion of endless changing and overlapping brain waves and simulates through artificial intelligence a mixture of overlapping memories in an intuitive process reminiscent of images from features. And we explore consciousness, memory, and existence by showing a nonlinear effect inside it through its circulating appearance. We hope it will be the most heterogeneous landscape for visitors and a meaningful moment to face the inner landscape as the closest object and hope that these landscapes can overlap as part of memory.
