Exhibition Information
Openspace Bae's last exhibition of 2020 is 'Living next door to artists'. Smoky's "Living next door to Alice," which was explosive in Europe and Asia in the 70s, was especially popular in Korea. It was a song that played everywhere on the street. There could be many reasons why we borrowed the name. Most of the downtown areas of Jungang-dong, where the open space ship is located, are buildings built in the 70s and harbor more than 50 years. Many writers build workrooms in old buildings and are neighboring writers centered on ships. It is a building right in front of it and is 100 meters away. We often run into each other in the alley. A close look at the work of such neighboring writers has been missing for more than a year in this newly nestled original city center. Smokey's "Living next door to Alice" is about to leave behind the close but unfortunate moments that are not approachable like the main character in the lyrics and now try to knock on the door of the neighboring writer's studio. During the exhibition, open studios and artist talks will be held once a week at the studios of participating artists Kim Ki-seok, Kim Bo-kyung, Moon Ji-young, Park Shin-young, Awan and Cho Jung-hwan. It will be an opportunity to take a deep look at the world of works by neighboring artists and give feedback to each other. I hope this exhibition will be a meaningful place to share the activities and energy of those based in the region. Source: Openspace Bae
