Exhibition Information
Gallery Rae will hold the first exhibition of photographer Kim Jungman in Busan. This year, not only our country but also the whole world is still in great pain and difficulty in the face of unexpected danger. Changes that we didn't think would happen in our lives a year ago are occurring one after another, and we're adapting to them. Gallery rae has organized the first exhibition of photographer Kim Jung-man in Busan, who has a strong fan base at home and abroad, to comfort, empower, and cheer for the bright future together amid so many changes and difficult times. Photographer Kim Jung-man was well known to the Korean public through his works such as fashion pictorials and movie posters, but since 2007, he has announced the suspension of commercial photography and continued his deep inner world and unique works. This exhibition introduces works that were created with the author's long-standing reasons. The representative work of this exhibition, "I was waiting for you," is a photograph of a tree on the banks of Jungnang cheon Stream for 10 years, capturing a tree that is enduring the harsh world. On the way from the writer's home to the studio, there were no big trees on the embankment road, and there were many trees that were cut off branches and traces of rain and wind on the narrow streets where trucks used to run. The author may have seen the inherent scars of the writer from the wounded trees he saw on the road every day. And since then, I have been interacting with these trees for a long time, and now I have my works. The wood in this work, which is printed in black and white on a large Korean paper, feels like a ink painting, giving off the impression of writer Kim Jung-man. It also feels like a person who silently endured the harsh world of trees that stand apart and broken, or a writer who has endured the long years well. If you just look at the work, you will be able to feel the image of the work as a single image rather than a picture. In addition to the "Can You Hear the Wind Blow" series, the exhibition features works such as "Le Monde," "Image of Korea," "Flowers" and "Red Light" that give you a sense of the heavy depth of color that comes from the base of the screen. In particular, it will be very special to see special works made on POSCO steel plates in collaboration with POSCO. I hope you visit the exhibition and feel the strong energy of overcoming the difficult times from the works.
