Exhibition Information

The first planning exhibition for the drawing-room in 2021 will open with "A Strange Journey." The process of leaving for a strange place coexists with excitement and fear, and cannot be subjugated by the encounter of an unknown sense. The four authors of "The Strange Journey" are travelers, each exploring with different eyes, inviting us to a space that unfolds between past, present, and unpredictable future gaps that pass by us.

Kim Hye-won begins the journey with the question of the nature of painting and what is painting. The extremely ordinary, familiar sample-like landscape chosen to be picture studies the process of the possibility of painting. Under a detailed plan of various materials such as watercolors, acrylics, and oil paintings used in painting, sometimes freely mixed materials find painting properties in an unexpected way.

Lee Ahhyun seeks ways to recognize objects that depend on who you are looking at. By becoming an insect by itself, the time and space of transformation and processing is built from the perspective and perspective of the insect. As if observing plant cells under a microscope, the magnified landscape and dilated air detected by the insect's eyes are emitted with unstructured abstract images in the shape of the proximal and distant landscape.

Lee Young-hoo pays attention to the value of 'delusion' that the author himself considers the most humane act. The pieces of propellers, toenails, which act as modules in his work, run as a collection called delusion. The collection rotates and shines in its position, working as a value-non-value-unvalued metaphor, and offering a hard-working transition of perception.

Lim Seong unfolds his journey to find images that are created by conflicting memories with the present me, whose personal experience is embedded, through a medium called drawing. The first-person, cross-sectional memory, which becomes clearer when you close your eyes, shares the experience of swimming in a dream or a virtual world in a way that is constantly full of pencil lines and graphite chunks of graphite.
