  • 2021 Another possibility- Beyond the Age
"Another possibility" is a specialized exhibition program that works on the basis of the region and supports the creative activities of writers experimenting with new attempts and possibilities and supports them to form a forum through them. It seeks to find another possibility following the 'beanda; unnamed land' in 2014, 'META ; in 2015, 'from another possibility', 'from another possibility' in 2017, 'drawn me' in 2018, 'different possibility – drawing' in 2019 and 'other possibility - attitude drawing' in 2020. So far, two groups of artists have been invited to reflect the possibility of another change in art, but from 2021, artists will be invited to introduce new possibilities by inviting the intuitive power of viewing objects in each genre.
Based on calligraphy, literature, and Korean painting genres, this exhibition was organized by artists who sought new possibilities for creation, breaking away from the general exhibition of traditional calligraphy, and encouraging the expansion of existing standardized works into spatial concepts. While traditional calligraphy has continued to develop by maintaining the traditional formalities of calligraphy or calligraphy, this exhibition is designed to focus one step more on the extended formative elements and convey the emotions of expressive writing to visitors.

Participating artists will invite Yulsan Lee Hong-jae, who pursued the experimental direction of Pilmuk movement in the calligraphy section and expanded calligraphy to performance art, to demonstrate a dynamic tabuk performance in the 28m-long hanji at the exhibition hall with his whole body and show. "Even if it is the only work in the world, it is a dead art if it cannot communicate with the public and not impress the public," the artist said. "I hope that we will be able to see, hear, and feel the true nature of calligraphy in the field," he said. "We will show the artist's free and harmonious art that finds free and harmonious sculptures that are not bound by the law.
Another calligrapher, Choram Park Se-ho, is not a general calligraphic listing method, but rather an artist who shows the intrinsic intensity of image writing, and shows a formative conclusion through brush strokes that are alive rather than technical craftsmen. The author said, "Over the ages is the past. Now, it's more than a time away to find and experiment with unmade future calligraphy, not to stay in the past and present calligraphy," he said, emphasizing the experimental spirit and focusing on another role of writing messages and questions. In this exhibition, large-scale contemporary calligraphy works and installation art will be presented, and the continuous efforts to traditional and experimental calligraphy will show new possibilities for contemporary art along with avant-garde period spirit.
In literary painting, Jeong Seong-geun, a writer of Haksan, who is immersed in the topic of energy life, which is essential, and is developing into a transformative and expressive literary culture, will be invited. The author, who strives to use his journey to find his own expression in a vast whirlpool of tradition and modernity, not in superficial black and white, but in philosophical expression, said, "Painting is looking at one's mind. The long-flowered flowers of a large old tree have a different size of beauty than other common flowers. There will be a big flow and breathing that we don't know like bloodlines, and I think it's fate to find the depth in my work." It emphasizes spirituality rather than external beauty, and it will be revealed through a large work, and a new light on the back of the work to show the fine flow of ink.

Lastly, Korean painting invites Choi Hyun-jae, who seeks expansion by emptying space based on Korean sentiment. In this exhibition, the artist repeatedly fills and empties through "Joint Sun Drawing," showing the floor plan and installation work that finds one's identity by lifting new margins and lines, and shows how to focus on oneself with minimal painting. The author's "Drawing a dotted line" is a collection of points that express the longest and shortest lines as if drawing them, and is a painting that shows the development of the situation he can do through his concentration on life. The author said, "There were times when I had to move my body to a minimum due to mental pressure and stress. When I was told not to move unconditionally, I had no choice but to focus on the conversation I could do. Take out a fountain pen on a long scroll and draw a line. The silent art has resumed," he said, explaining that the dotted line is a healing process that erases heavy thoughts, just as he writes on white paper.

The word "beyond the age" should have insight to understand the times, and it will only be possible if there is a struggle to shed a lot of anguish and faults to stand at the boundary. This may be a very personal breakthrough or a grand goal for the present era. However, artists know better than anyone else that art activities are a repetition of efforts to go beyond the values of the existing order. This "Another Possibility - Beyond the Age" is expected to serve as a key to opening a new future beyond another era with different by-products of hardships to escape form.
