Exhibition Information

			Suseong Artpia, the Suseong Cultural Foundation (Cheif director Kim Dae kwon) Suseong Artpia will operate an exhibition at the Open Gallery from December 29, 2020. The first exhibition runs from 29 December 2020 to 31 March 2021. Open Gallery is an exposure gallery created by refurbishing the outer wall of Muhak Hall (426×296cm) and Hoban Gallery (363×297cm) on the L-floor of Suseong Artfia in December 2020. The Open Gallery, located on the way to the second-floor concert hall (Yongji Hall), has a subtitle, "Watching On and On," considering that it can enjoy the work even on the way to and from inadvertently. There is also a positive aspect of saving the space that was left out from the outer walls of Muhak Hall, the concert hall, and Hoban Gallery, the exhibition hall. Due to the nature of the exposure space, citizens who visit Suseong Artpia can enjoy the artwork even after the exhibition hall (Hoban Gallery, Multi Art Hall) door is closed. The theme of the first round of the open gallery, which is said to have revealed the dark space of the work, is "2020 Looking Back." It means to look back on last year as an artwork.
 
In the first invitation exhibition, writer Kim Daye and writer Jung Hyo-chan participated. The genres are illustration and line drawing. Kim Da-ye's works are 12 flat-panel works that illustrate world-famous philosophers and artists. The 12 works created based on the 12-month period look back on the past year. Kim Da-ye, an illustrator, wrote <Hangul as a play> and <Live your heart>. He published books such as Naver Line, SKT emoticons, Kakao Talk emoticons, Apple Korea, US App Store illustrations, and Samsung Electronics 'Out of <T> Box' web content illustrations have been produced.
Jeong Hyo-chan, who installed line drawing on the opposite wall, currently a teaches art theory at Hanyang University and easily solves art through radio broadcasts. The work that author Jung Hyo-chan, who published books such as "Bold Thinking Book," "Art 0 Class," and "Kill the Princess of the People," installed in the open gallery is "Hommorimans." "hommorimans" is a combination of "hommo" meaning "searcher" and "rimans" meaning "searcher" and "hommorimans", which is a combination of Rodin's thinker. It is a parody of modern people with smartphones. The author explains the installation as follows. "There is a saying that it is a human library. Getting to know one person means it's like reading a book. In that sense, a person is a "book" and a narrative is created by the accumulation of life day by day by day. People travel through life. Communicate and share all the emotions and thoughts that you realize during the trip to form a community called 'us'. Technology has been constantly developed for the smoothness and convenience of communication. beacon, letter, telegram, telephone, email, etc. Human beings have come to have the key to penetrate the world of 'smartphones.' Smartphones have taken human life to the next level like Prometheus's fire, but somehow people stop traveling and search only for their desires."
 
Arthur Danto, who declared the "end of art," evaluated the new identity of art today. It is noteworthy that Danto defines today's art as pluralism. The key is to say that the goal of art has come to a situation where it can no longer be achieved, and it is in line with Hegel's art apocalypse. The termination of art points to the crisis of art, but in another way, it is a new beginning. It is the same principle that only the ball will bounce off when it hits the bottom. Modern art shows the aspect of plural art. Dawon art is revealed as a complex genre by inserting or covering various expression forms, techniques, or ideologies and themes in fine art, which was classified as a pure area. The newly created Open Gallery in Suseong Artfia will accommodate Dawon Art. The genre of works to be presented at the Open Gallery outside of Suseong Art Pia's White Cube will become more diverse and expand its scope in the future.
 
Jung Sung-hee, director of Suseong Artfia, said, "The newly created Open Gallery in December 2021 is unusual since the establishment of Suseong Artfia, and we hope that Suseong Artpia will be reborn as an exhibition hall where various genres of artists can communicate more closely with the public."
