Exhibition Information
The process of creating the artwork based on my memory begins with one facing anxiety and solitude due to the helplessness from relationships. The character is full of despair. One is confused because he or she does not know what to do where one cannot escape or remain. If one escapes, one will fall behind. If one decides to remain, then one will go out of its mind. Due to equivocality, one’s mind is disordered and chaotic. Sometimes one feels nauseaous, shows dyspnea symptoms, and even want to hide. For some other times, one is absolutely tolerable to handle the given situation. When one wants to hide, but have no place to hide, that is the moment when on sees a camellia falling down. That camellia is stagnant along with the snow falling down at dawn, which represents the purgatory between this world and the afterworld. Dawn’s cold breeze numbs the person in the place where there is no warm sunshine of this world and shadow of the afterworld. By that moment, the one is finally able to breathe. There is only peace exists in that zone. Finally, one is stagnant. It is the moment that one finally floats on its waves of emotions. Whether one hated, hurts, or even feels sadness, there becomes the moment of just leaving oneself in the ocean of the emotions. At that very moment, the one begins to think about the origin of despair and reminds the memory that caused one’s frustration. The fragments of memories and the scenes of emotions become a story that does not leave one’s mind. The person from the memory is pictured to be frustrated, yearned, missed, loved, hated, and then becomes equivocal. In the moment where time does not pass by, the past has already blended with memories and emotions. Now one cannot clarify what is real or abstract. In the end, only subtle emotions with complexity and characters remain.
