Exhibition Information

			Jaehyung Hwang's solo exhibition is a solo exhibition that sheds light on the artistic achievements accumulated by Hwang Jaehyeong (1952-) within the identity of a 'miner painter'. The term 'miner painter' can be said to have been a key word that crossed the artist's world of work since the 1980s, when the artist described his experiences as a miner for three years like a diary. 'The Miner Painter' is meaningful in that it implies the world of Hwang Jae-hyung's work of realistically drawing the subject in front of him, and at the same time reveals the practical attitude of the artist who tried to harmonize life and art.

Hwang Jae-hyung extended life in a coal mining village to a universal dimension by stating, "Makjang is a place where humans despair. Makjang is not only in Taebaek but also in Seoul." According to the artist, the portrait of a miner becomes the face of reality that testifies to the reality of 'here and now' as a proxy for the existence of alienated money. As life continues in the midst of despair, we hope that the message of hope and recovery will be conveyed through this exhibition, according to the will of 'Hoecheon (回天)'.
