Exhibition Information
Since 2019, Gallery White One has been planning group exhibitions by selecting up-and-coming artists through a public contest at least once a year. This <Homo Viator> exhibition is also a group exhibition planned by selecting 7 young artists through a public contest. In 2021, it will be an opportunity to get a glimpse of the journey that the seven artists living in the present have been contemplating through their works. Homo Viator. Viator means a person who walks and a stranger, meaning that he does not stay in one place, but leaves on his own in search of the meaning of life. The philosopher Gabriel Marcel (1889-1973) defined this as the scientific name of man. Every moment of life's journey can be said to be an adventure in which you constantly find out who you are. Such adventures last for all ages, and the accumulated experiences give us the strength to move forward every moment. Through the exhibition 《Homo Viator》, Gallery White One intends to examine the methods of young artists who have experienced various experiences and have gone on a journey of contemplation. Seven artists will participate in this special exhibition. The artists are looking for their own direction through the large and small natural materials such as the space we have lived in, the forests, trees, and the sea surrounding our lives, animals and plants, childhood memories, or common media in everyday life. We look to the future based on our own experiences at every moment in our journey of life, and sometimes we get answers through many examples around us. Like the participating artists in this exhibition, each audience will be looking for answers to their lives. Through this exhibition, we hope that the audience can freely look at the works of the artists and help them find direction through their eyes.
