Exhibition Information
Gana Art is pleased to announce the opening of a solo exhibition of work by ”Sosan” Park Daesung (b. 1945-) at Insa Art Center. The title 《靜觀自得: Insight》 alludes to the process by which one is awakened to the truth by quietly observing objects or phenomena. In this exhibition, Park presents artworks produced by reflecting on the themes of his previous works and viewing them from a new perspective. Park has revisited natural subjects such as Mount Geumgang, Cheonjeyeon Waterfall, and pine trees, and created new works in smaller size with his sharp brushstrokes and keen insight. Moreover, the exhibition also features works from Archaic Beauty, a still-life painting series that depicts his own antique craftworks collection, including a tea bowl, porcelains and a mother-of-pearl box. In addition, small still lifes will also be on display to comprehensively encompass the artist’s scope of work. Artworks by Park that have received great attention internationally will be shown in a touring exhibition across the US in 2022, stopping firstly at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA) and several prestigious universities on the East Coast. 《靜觀自得: Insight》 at Insa Art Center will be the artist’s last solo exhibition in Korea before the touring exhibition in the US, and will provide visitors with an opportunity to see all of his major works in one place. Park’s works of various sizes and subjects will be exhibited to allow visitors to understand his art in depth. (Source=gana art center)
