Exhibition Information
(,,,) 《CHUN Chil Bong, imbued with the landscape》looks back on his practice of drawing and allows us to appreciate the yanggwang, greenery, seasons, travel, and Korean still life that he enjoyed dealing with. We look at these ‘landscapes’ in two periods. The first is the Jeollabuk-do period when Cheon Chilbong was honing his art. The second is the Seoul period, when I went to Seoul to move on to a full-time career “with a sense of beauty in the realm of survival”. During this period, Chilbong Cheon repeatedly explored ‘Korean landscapes’ while gradually expanding his gaze from Biwon and the suburbs of Seoul to forests and valleys across the country. The exhibition sought to discover that his art practice and methodology originated in the landscape and people of Jeonbuk. To this end, it was divided into <Western Paintings of Jeonbuk in the 1950s>, <Biwon and Landscapes of Seoul>, <Sanyas and Valleys across the country>, and <Travels and still lifes of Europe>, and composed of an archive desk showing various records and materials in the meantime. . Cheon Chilbong loved the scenery of his hometown, which had just escaped the shadows cast by the Japanese colonial rule and the Korean War, and penetrated into the Korean landscape through the Seoul period. The exhibition intends to deal with the fact that his journey was a path that flows through the Korean landscape containing our hometown. <CHUN Chil Bong, imbued with the landscape> exhibition pamphlet (Source = Jeonbuk Museum of Art)
