The Daegu Art Museum will hold an exhibition of Choi Jung-Hwa's <Kabbala> from July 7(Tue) to January 3, 2021 under the mother hall project. The <Kabbala> is a modern art piece that was reborn as a huge monument by loading a basket that would be found in any Korean house. In the world of Choi Jung-Hwa's works, various objects appear. For example, pots, baskets, brooms, slippers, tires, and other objects around our lives gather to create a complete work. The world of Choi Jung-Hwa's works, in which everyday objects are transformed into a modern art, was held at the Daegu Art Museum's Mother Hall from February 26 to June 23, 2013.
Choi Jung-Hwa's <Kabbala> reappears in the mother hall of the Daegu Art Museum in July 2020. Green and red baskets gather together to form a huge forest in the mother hall. The colorful forest, made of plastic baskets, is a floor of the Daegu Art Museum and is placed in a huge 18m mother hall. Visitors can also enjoy their works sensibly while walking walking through the space.
The large-scale installation work of Choi jung-Hwa, a representative artist of Korean contemporary art, will provide the joy and new pride of modern art to Daegu citizens who overcame the Covid 19 and showed mature civic awareness.
